Hugues de la Plaza was found dead in his locked San Francisco apartment in 2007 after a night out. Police called it suicide, even though he had multiple stab wounds, no knife was found, and later French investigators argued it was murder. The case remains troubling because the evidence never quite fits the official ruling.
